"Rays" Your Sun Care Standards this Summer

When we talk about UV, UVA, UVB, HEV and IR-A, we know it can sound overwhelming. At Silki, we're all about learning together — and from what we've learnt, it's time to raise your sun care standards.

UVA vs UVB: What's the Difference?

UV (ultraviolet) is radiation produced by the sun. UVA rays enter the middle layer of the skin (the dermis) and are the main contributor to skin ageing. UVB rays reach the outer layer of the skin (the epidermis) and are the main contributor to sunburn. Both can lead to skin cancer and both require a broad-spectrum SPF to protect against them.

What About HEV Light?

HEV (High-Energy Visible Light) rays come from the sun — but also from the very screen you're reading this from right now. Prolonged exposure is linked to hyperpigmentation and premature ageing. This is exactly why Silki's HydraShield™ Mist was formulated with a Blue Light Defence Complex.

And IR-A (Infrared Light)?

IR-A rays from the sun's heat cause an increase in free radicals and accelerate the premature ageing of your skin. Silki's sunscreens are formulated to help protect against all of these light stressors.

Silki's Sunscreens

Our SPF30+ Daily Defence Sunscreen is lightweight, fast-absorbing, dermatologically approved and leaves no white cast on any skin tone. It hydrates while protecting — making it easy to wear every day without excuses.
