BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO AT HOME DERMAPLANING

THE BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO AT HOME DERMAPLANING

Pass the razor, Ladies. I’d be lying if I said that I knew that I’d be raving about the benefits of shaving your face. But here I am doing exactly that. Face shaving, or rather, Dermaplaning, has become one of the most requested treatments in salons and spas. Here’s why I’m sold.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is an effective exfoliation procedure that involves using a small scalpel to remove the top layer of skin. This top layer is the nasty culprit that usually accumulates dirt, oil, dead skin cells leading to clogged pores, dull skin and all sorts of evils. Dermaplaning also removes vellus hair, more commonly known as peach fuzz.

The Benefits of Dermaplaning

Not only does Dermaplaning remove peach fuzz, dirt and oil, it also triggers cell regeneration and allows products to better penetrate the skin. It helps your makeup go on smoother while reducing the appearance of wrinkles, acne and scars. ”Because it’s a form of physical exfoliation, it will also help with pore size, tone, and texture,” says Joyce Imahiyerobo-Ip, MD owner of Vibrant Dermatology near Boston.  This results in ultra-smooth and glowing skin.

Why You Should Dermaplane Your Face

  • Instant results and no downtime
  • Provides deeper product penetration
  • Removes peach fuzz that traps dirt and oils
  • Lightens Pigmentation
  • Promotes smoother skin
  • Removes dead skin cells
  • Reduces the appearance of acne scars
  • Diminishes the look of fine lines
  • Works on all skin types

According to Tori Burns, Certified Physician Assistant at the Center for Aesthetic and Laser Medicine in Texas, “For my patients who struggle with chronic skin conditions like acne and eczema, dermaplaning can help to prevent flare ups, and when you dermaplane regularly, treatments for these conditions can be more readily absorbed by the skin.”

So what are you waiting for lovelies?

Silly me, you’re waiting on us aren’t you? Well, the wait is over. SIlki has a brand new Dermaplaning Blade that you have to try!

Silki Dermaplaning Blades

The Silki Dermablade makes dermaplaning effortless. It has a stainless steel blade and an eco-friendly, biodegradable handle made out of wheat straw. That’s a win for the environment too! With this nifty little tool you will notice the benefits right away.

How to Dermaplane

Before you get started, there are some key points you should keep in mind:

  • Start with a clean face
  • Do not use over active acne
  • Make sure to prime your skin with either Rosehip Oil or Aloe Vera Gel

Now, you’re good to go.

Pull the skin taut and always move in short, light strokes with the blade at a 45-degree angle against the skin. I like to start at the top of the ear, make small strokes, moving down to the jawline and in towards the nose to get the whole cheek and my chin. It’s truly one of the most satisfying skincare treatments, you can literally see the fuzz and sludge on the blade! Next I move to my forehead, using downward strokes. I prefer to avoid the hairline, eyelids, and sides of my nose. Once I’m done I apply a facial oil or moisturiser. And that’s it! My skin feels so smooth, soft, glowing and I feel ready to take on the world.

The results from dermaplaning can last up to four weeks. It’s the gift that keeps on giving! This is a treatment that can be done once a month for beautiful and glowing skin.

Ladies, just in case you’re wondering, no, your hair does not come back thicker, all that happens is your face is smooth as silk and you’re ready to put your best face forward.

Since the treatment has become so popular, there are a few options you can use at home to get amazing results.
