Skincare Mistakes You’re Making that You Have to Stop Now

Even with the best intentions, we sometimes make skincare mistakes that sabotage our efforts without realising it. Here are some of the biggest mistakes to avoid, along with what to do instead.

Over-Exfoliating

Less is more when it comes to exfoliation. Going too heavy with the exfoliator damages your skin barrier and causes inflammation which can lead to acne and other skin conditions. Read our guide on how to know if you're over-exfoliating. Use the Silki Dermaplaning Blades to exfoliate safely and effectively.

Using Polyester Sheets

Polyester is not a naturally breathable fabric and soaks up oils and grease. Opt for a natural fabric like silk or cotton that absorbs less moisture and is a better choice for acne-prone skin and those looking to prevent wrinkles.

Relying on Face Wipes

Face wipes do not clean your skin thoroughly. They cannot replace your cleanser. Always cleanse properly, especially at night.

Applying Hyaluronic Acid to Dry Skin

Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant that draws moisture towards it. Apply it to damp, not dry skin to reap all the benefits. Follow with a moisturiser to seal it in.

Skipping Sunscreen

Without sunscreen, your skin is left vulnerable to harmful UV rays. Almost 90% of premature skin ageing happens because of harmful sun exposure. Don't skip your SPF — ever.
