Bakuchiol - Why you need it in your skincare routine

Bakuchiol - Why you need it in your skincare routine

While there's no arguing that retinol is effective, it's also known that products containing this ingredient can cause irritation when used incorrectly. That's why we're excited to introduce Bakuchiol — a powerful plant-based alternative to retinol that's perfect for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone skin. No irritation, safe AM and PM, and safe to use during pregnancy.

What is Bakuchiol?

Bakuchiol is a 100% natural active ingredient obtained from babchi seeds. Described as the true alternative to retinol, it presents striking similarities in performance to retinoids but is much gentler on the skin. At the gene level, Bakuchiol and retinol have similar molecular signatures — stimulating key anti-ageing genes while controlling inflammation.

Bakuchiol for Anti-Ageing

In a clinical study, 16 volunteers aged 41 to 60 tested a lotion containing 1% Bakuchiol. After 12 weeks, there was significant improvement in lines and wrinkles (-20% wrinkle depth), pigmentation, elasticity, firmness and overall photo-damage, with no irritating effect on skin. It's an excellent option for fine lines and wrinkles.

Bakuchiol for Acne-Prone Skin

Bakuchiol has been clinically proven to reduce acne by 48% after 6 weeks, making it an ally for both teenagers with sensitive skin and adults with oily skin.

Silki's Bakuchiol Products

Silki's 1% Bakuchiol Moisturiser delivers all these benefits in a gentle, daily formula that improves skin tone, supports hydration and strengthens your skin barrier.
